Kappa puzhuku is the traditional food of Kerala and very popular and common. I love this dish. I am sharing a simple recipe to make tasty Kappa puzhuku

 Ingredients
  1. Kappa/Tapioca -  Around 3/4 kg
  2. Grated Coconut – 1.5 cup
  3. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  4. Green chilli -  4
  5. Garlic – 3 small cloves
  6. Cumin seeds/ Perum Jeerakam – 1/4 – 1/2 tsp
  7. Curry leaves – 3 – 4 sprigs
  8. Coconut oil – 1tbsp
  9. Salt – To taste
  10. Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
  11. Dry red chillies – 3 seeds removed

How-to

1. Grind  the grated coconut along with turmeric powder, 4 green chillies, garlic, 3-4 curry leaves and cumin seeds in a mixer and keep aside.
2. Clean and chop the tapioca to small pieces. Pressure cook the tapioca with salt till it is mashy.
3. Completely mash the tapioca and mix it with coconut mixture very well. Check for salt.
4. Heat the coconut oil, let splutters the mustard seeds, add immediately the curry leaves and dry red chillies. Then and add the tapioca in to this and mix well for few minutes.
5. Serve hot with fish curry, beef curry or chammanthi.
